Setanta seals Premiership deal

Yes I know, but use the links on the left side to download a couple of the 'clients'

I especially recommend TVANTS.

Once downloaded, you can go to the list of stations on Matchdays and you can pick one that is showing the game you want. Usually ESPN is there - they are showing the Charity Shield next week. For regular premiership games there are several others.

The better ones include (forgive the spelling) Shandzie, Giuangong and CCTV-5, but there are many more, and channels include a lot more than soccer.

The thing with this system is takes a few minutes to 'settle' so start it 10 minutes or so before the beginning of the game and the pauses and blips will gradually disappear as it builds up the buffer. Sometmes you can get lucky as well and find English commentary on one channel of the stereo and chinese on the other, so just adjust your balance control.

This site will give you more information, and also links to several other similar systems

Either way the quality is excellent. Good luck!

Countdown conundrum?

LYNAM COUNTDOWN EXCLUSIVE: I'LL QUIT
By Nicola Methven, Tv Editor

COUNTDOWN is heading south after Des Lynam threatened to quit unless bosses moved the show from its lifelong home in Leeds closer to London. The former Match of the Day host claimed the 200-mile journey from his house in the capital to Yorkshire was too much for him - despite only having to film for about one week in four. Des demanded they move filming to a site near the M25 or face looking for a new presenter. Bosses yesterday agreed to shoot half the series in a studio near his home as a compromise. The hit series started on Channel 4 in 1982 and has been made by Yorkshire Television in Leeds for the past 24 years.

A Channel 4 spokesman said: "Countdown will begin filming again this September in Leeds. The show will stay in Yorkshire for the rest of the year, with filming at the new studios beginning early in 2007"

A source said: "Des is 63 and has said he's finding the travelling too much. "He wants the show filmed somewhere near the M25 so it's easier...

Funny enough - ended up being quite compelling viewing.

Before the other night I'd always thought they could do a better show by just hiding a camera in the china white toilets!

Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe
Author: faceless :: Posted: Tue Aug 08, 2006 12:44 am

This programme is all about television - and it's just great. If you've ever watched the TV with a cynical eye, then you will enjoy this a lot.

Quote:
Having honed his killer critical instinct with the Screen Burn column for the Guardian and cult website TV Go Home, Brooker now takes aim from the other side of the screen. As well as digesting the week's television output, the programme will explore how the TV industry works.

Brooker says, "For some mad reason BBC Four weren't entirely put off by the three pilots we made earlier this year, so I'm returning with yet more puerile meandering and dispiriting misanthropy, which I intend to somehow pass off as 'analysis'."

It is a shame really, and I was actually hoping that the second test would be negative.

I was as well. It's always horrible to hear things like this. I wouldn't want to win something or a competition based on anything other than my hardwork -- but hey, I'm no athlete. It just seems like it's not the person doing the winning but the drugs instead.

That's what it feels like to me as well eefan about the drugs doing the winning. If they didn't have the ability to do it without then they shouldn't compete. They're taking it off others that train so hard for years to be where they are and end up making themselves look so bad.

I was really hoping the result would be negative as well and actually believed him during his press conference because he looked so believable and in bits over being accused, but it takes a devious or desperate person to do it in the first...

Eddie Izzard to star as a Chef

I love his stand-up, the films I have seen him in haven't been that great. However, that sounds like it might be good. Maybe TV will be a better place for him than films.

I want to adopt Barney !!! Poor thing... I like Elvis and all but the poor dog was retired so I hope he gets a good home. Look at those eyes.... He's sorry for what he did. Sad

Isn't he just the cutest! I'd adopt him in a heartbeat myself. It looked so cute at the end of the clip when she showed him the bear and he put his head down awwwwww

I'm sure he's going to have a good home. He's on a farm now and will be well taken good care of. He's a celeb now so they have to Very Happy
