yeah, that was a surprise for sure - I didn't really like her that much myself as she was always cramping his murderous style!

Dexter star Michael C Hall diagnosed with cancer
Michael C Hall, star of TV show Dexter and a nominee at this Sunday's Golden Globes, has been secretly battling cancer.
By Anita Singh,
14 Jan 2010

The 38-year-old actor said that the cancer is now in remission and he is nearing the end of his successful treatment. Hall was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma some time ago but kept the news secret from fans.

"I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care," Hall said in a statement. His spokesman added that Hall's cancer, which affects the lymphatic system, is in complete remission.

The actor plans to attend Sunday's Golden Globe awards, where he has a best dramatic actor nomination for his role in Dexter as a Miami police blood splatter analyst who secretly moonlights as a serial killer. The show is also shortlisted for best television drama. Hall will begin work on a fifth series of Dexter later this year. He met his wife, fellow actress Jennifer Carpenter, on the set of Dexter. She plays his sister on the show. His other roles include David Fisher in Six Feet Under.

Explaining the popularity of Dexter - and the challenge of making a serial killer sympathetic to audiences - Hall has said: "What attracted me to Dexter was the moral ambiguity. Also, the challenge of breathing life into someone who claims to be without the capacity for authentic human emotion is fun."

Dexter is quite simply the greatest TV show ever made. I rented a box set of series 2, intending to watch a couple of episodes a night. Ten minutes into the first episode, I knew I would have to watch the whole series through to the end in one sitting. The Sopranos had a tendency to drift up it's own arsehole at times, as if David Lynch had taken over. No such problems with Dexter. Every second is addictive.

the worst thing for me watching it in a row was all the titles and recaps... I ended up chopping them all, so now the story just flows right through - Dextrastic.

I just watched episode 12 of series 6 - I'm not sure if it's the last episode of the series, but it was brilliant. I wasn't too keen on the psychotherapist aspect, as it rang too many Sopranos bells, but the result was great.
