I'm just wondering if anyone outside the UK can watch the interviews and clips that are on the official BBC Eastenders site?

Is everyone now using the new BBC viewer ? One of the reasons I think it was brought in was to reduce the chance of people copying the material (though clearly hasn't stopped people).

I am behind the times on this, but recall there was a big fuss that the viewer (based on Microsoft technology I believe) was anti-competitive since it didn't support the Mac.

In the back of my mind, I believe I read a long time ago (= last year) that the BBC drops the resolution for overseas viewers. I imagine for some licensed shows (e.g. from the states) they might be forbidden from streaming it overseas.

Just announced :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7233252.stm
"The BBC will launch a download version of its iPlayer online video service for Apple Mac users by the end of 2008."

So that answers my Mac question

Interesting is

Quote:
The BBC's iPlayer comes in two versions - a program which allows users to download programmes to their Windows PC and a streaming version on the web available to all users.

I wonder if the downloaded programs are "locked" for editing, and/or they have other DRM restrictions.
