Sweet Virgin Mary!!

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Workers at a chocolate company have discovered a five-centimetre-all column of chocolate drippings they believe bears a striking resemblance to the Virgin Mary. Since the discovery of the drippings under a vat Monday, employees of Bodega Chocolates have spent much of their time hovering over the tiny figure, praying and placing rose petals and candles around it. "I was raised to believe in the Virgin Mary but this still gives me the chills," company co-owner Martucci Angiano said as she balanced the dark brown figure in her hand during an interview Thursday. "Everyone should see this."

Kitchen worker Cruz Jacinto was the first to spot the lump of melted chocolate when she began her shift Monday cleaning up drippings that had accumulated under a large vat of dark chocolate. Chocolate drippings usually harden in thin, flat strips on wax paper but Jacinto said she froze when she noticed the unusual shape of this cast-off: It looked just like the Virgin Mary on the prayer card she always carries in her right pocket.

"When I come in, the first thing I do is look at the clock but this time I didn't look at the clock. My eyes went directly to the chocolate," said Jacinto, as she paused from her work. "I thought: 'Am I the only one who can see this? I picked it up and I felt emotion just come over me. For me, it was a sign."

The chocolate, on display for most of the week in the front of the company gift shop, now rests in a plastic case in a back room and is brought out only for curious visitors. The stack of hardened confection has a wide base and tapers gently toward a rounded top, giving the appearance of a female figure with her head tilted slightly to the right. The dark brown melting chocolate hardened into subtle layers that resemble the folds of a gown and a flowing veil.

A tiny white circle, about the size of a pencil eraser, sits in the upper centre of the creation, just above a slight ridge that runs across it. Cruz said the white speck is the head of the Baby Jesus as he is held in Mary's folded arms.

For Jacinto, the discovery came just in time. The single mother said she has struggled with personal problems for months and was about to lose her faith. "I have big problems right now, personally, and lately I've been saying that God doesn't exist," she said, pulling the dog-eared prayer card out of her pocket. This has given me renewed faith."

Angiano, who co-owns the 10-year-old company with her sister, has rubbed shoulders with plenty of stars in her job. The gourmet boutique runs booths at all the big awards shows, including the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the Oscars, the Country Music Awards and the Latin Grammys. Pictures of Angiano with top celebrities - and her chocolates - line the office walls. But this week's brush with the image of a 2,000-year-old icon has left even Angiano star-struck. "That's our Oscar right there," she said.

'Sealant Jesus' found on garage floor sells for £750
10th August 2007

A smudge of sealant said to resemble the face of Jesus Christ has fetched more than £750 on eBay. Teacher Deb Serio found the image on the garage floor of the family home in Forest, Virginia. "I really never thought I'd get any, to be honest," said Deb Serio, a high school teacher. "It's fun to see what people say and think about it," said Serio, who has gotten hundreds of messages from around the world.

The family has hired a contractor to remove the section of concrete. The chunk will be turned over to the winner, identified only as "islandoffthecoast." An active Lutheran, Serio considers the smudge just an odd occurrence - not a sign or miracle. "There are some people who need this kind of thing to sort of start them on their faith journey. I don't," she said. "That's why I don't mind parting with it."

Start someone on a faith journey and make enough for a journey of your own into the bargain? Result! haha

Is this Pope John Paul II waving from beyond the grave?
By NICK PISA -
15th October 2007

This fiery figure is being hailed as Pope John Paul II making an appearance beyond the grave. The image, said by believers to show the Holy Father with his right hand raised in blessing, was spotted during a ceremony in Poland to mark the second anniversary of his death. Details appeared on the Vatican News Service, a TV station in Rome which specialises in religious news broadcasts.

Service director Jarek Cielecki, a Polish priest and close friend of John Paul II, travelled to Poland after hearing an onlooker had photographed the image. Father Cielecki said he was convinced the picture showed the former pontiff. "You can see the image of a person in the flames and I think it is the servant of God, Pope John Paul II," he said. The pictures were being broadcast continuously on Italian TV and also posted on religious websites, some of which crashed as thousands logged on to see for themselves the eerie figure formed by the flames.

The bonfire was lit during a service at Beskid Zywiecki, close to John Paul's birthplace at Katowice, southern Poland, on April 2 - the second anniversary of his death. Hundreds had attended the ceremony. Gregorz Lukasik, the Polish man who took the photographs, said: "It was only afterwards when I got home and looked at the pictures that I realised I had something. I showed them to my brother and sister and they, like me, were convinced the flames had formed the image of Pope John Paul II. I was so happy with the picture that I showed it to our local bishop who said that Pope John Paul had made many pilgrimages during his life and he was still making them in death."

It's an interesting image for sure, but definitely doable in most good image software.

Jesus turns up in pancake, with added Mary
Friday, November 16, 2007

A woman believes she has found the image of Jesus and Mary in a pancake she was cooking for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The Jesus Pancake: that's Jesus on the left and Mary on the right. Or Mary on the left and Jesus on the right. One of the two.

Marilyn Smith, of Port St Lucie, Florida, decided to sell the pancake on eBay - after an earlier, cancelled sale in which the pancake reached £165 ($338), the current bid stands at $26.01. Smith's daughter says she believes the pancake is a miracle.

The eBay listing notes that: 'This is a spiritual, unusual and unique pancake that we believe to be holy and depicts what looks to be Jesus and Mary.' It does go on to admit, however, that: 'My brother said it looks more like Moses and Elijah.'

Shall we just veg out for a while, darling?
By BARRY WIGMORE -
25th January 2008

Sceptics might suspect that the hand of Man has been at work. But according to its owner, this remarkably-shaped root is entirely the product of Mother Nature. The root, attached to a Chinese fleeceflower plant, shows a naked man and woman in all their glory with even the most intimate details in all the right places.

It appears just as it was when the plant was pulled from the ground, according to the man who spotted it on a vegetable stall in a town in China's eastern Shandong province. The man, named Fan, was so taken with his find he is said to have paid 600 yuan, more than £40, to buy it. Curious visitors now travel from miles around to see the foot-long veggie couple on display at his home.

The fleeceflower is a favourite dietary supplement in Asia where its boiled extract is believed to reduce cholesterol and fight heart disease. The root is also sold as a diet food to help reduce obesity.

-------------------

Ok, so it's not got much of a religious link, but I could hardly Adam and Eve it.

Face of Jesus appears on cider bottle
By PAUL SIMS
1st May 2008

As miracles go, it is hardly in the same league as turning water into wine but Michael Cartwright was still pretty impressed when Jesus appeared in the foil wrapping of his cider bottle down at the pub.

"When I saw it I got goose pimples," 35-year-old Mr Cartwright said yesterday. "I have no doubt it is the face of Jesus. You can even see his beard and hair." Mr Cartwright, a taxi driver from Darlington, noticed the extraordinary image while drinking with a group of friends at his local, the Tanners Hall. "As the barmaid removed the cap to the cider I suddenly realised what was staring back at me," he added.

One of Mr Cartwright's friends took a photograph. It was only the following morning that he realised how clear the image was. But by then it was too late to retrieve the bottle. "It ended up getting collected by a barmaid when no one was paying attention and thrown away," said Mr Cartwright. "I'm not sure what message Jesus was sending and maybe now we'll never know."

Had they only held on to the bottle it could have been worth considerably more than the £2.49 it cost over the bar. Four years ago on eBay, American Diana Duyser sold a piece of ten-year-old toasted cheese sandwich - which appeared to feature the face of the Virgin Mary - for £15,000.

------------------

I don't need proof to know that cider gets you closer to heaven!

This is all bollocks. I actually have the face of Jesus Christ on my toilet door. Seriously.

If anyone doubts me I'll take a photo of it.
