I had to shrink your picture. It was way too big and was pulling the page off the screen. It also made my stomach go inside out lol That's some nasty looking shite!

... oh no! ... it's only a small bowl now! grrr

As a footnote; My mother would not eat eels, when she was a girl she once saw a dead body in a river, ... infiltrated by eels! wow ( ... hope you've all finished your breakfast?)

As I said above, I like eel when it's part of a Japanese meal (SUSHI), but dislike most other forms of it....

A lot of restaurants nowdays (Higher class ones that is) tend to use 'baby eels'... hundreds if not thousands of the buggers on your plate, in your bowl & some even present them live & swimming....
It's a bit like extra chewy sphagetti (at least the dish I tried), the kids liked it as did the wife... certainly not my cup of tea.

Conga eel on the other hand is quite tasty...
Not sure if it still happens but a bunch of chip shops in the UK used to substitue it for real Cod...
It's a bit more oily but flakes the same & has pretty much the same taste as Cod when battered & fried.

... on the subject of UK fish & chip shops (a national treasure), I have noticed since I have moved to the north of England (Sheffield) that the choice of fish is a bit sparce, sometimes it will be just 'fish', normally cod or haddock, but down south there would be a far greater choice; cod, haddock, rock salmon (dogfish), plaice, halibut and normally cod roe. Is it the same the further north you go?
