Its that time of year lol
Sausage rolls
Ingredients
450g ....1lb sausage meat
250g ...9oz flaky or puff pastry (I prefer ready made puff)
1 egg, beaten
for saus meat here In the US of A I use A Package of Bob evens saus meat with sage ..then add 1 small diced onion salt pepper and a little more sage ..mix all together and You have the nearest I.. can get to Brit tasting saus meat ....
Method
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Roll the pastry out on a large, floured surface
Aim for an oblong about 40 cm by 30 cm (15 in-12in)aprox
Cut the oblong into 3 strips (13 cm by 10 cm) (6in-4in)aprox
Divide the sausage meat into 3, roll each third into a sausage as long as the pastry (dust the meat with flour if it is sticky)
Place each sausage on the middle of a strip, brush the pastry on one side with beaten egg, fold the other side over and seal
Cut into 5 cm(2in) lengths, place on a greased baking tray, take care to ensure that the seal is on the base
brush the pastry with beaten egg and bake for around 25 minutes or until they are golden
Either serve whilst they are still warm or cool on a tray and store on an airtight container
To reheat, place on a baking tray in a medium oven for 10 minutes
Bloody Delish !!
ps If U use the ready made puff pastry .....its even easier...just divide each square into 3

Cheers for this Aja! I know I posted ages ago I needed a good recipe for this. They are one of my husbands favorites and he misses them so much. Soon as I get some free time (and through the turkey day leftovers) I will be making a batch. |
