how big were the bottles pirty? The standard here is a pint bottle (well 550ml), so for that price it seems very cheap.

Couldn't tell Face, it was all wrapped up in cardboard. It looked like this.



I think they are 12 oz bottles, which is 355 ml, so it's smaller. Still, looking around, that's a pretty cheap price compared to other stores I've noticed selling them.

Just an edit to say I found 12 pack in Winn Dixie for 11.99 same stuff, so apparently Walmart isn't the cheapest...lol!

That's a great deal really - I'm probably paying more than that here! If you get some, you must make sure it's really chilled though. It's nowhere near as nice if even close to room temperature.

If you have an Outback Steakhouse near you pirty you can try a pint. They have it on tap at all of them (at least they are supposed to)

I've never seen it on draught here - as far as I know you can only really get it on draught around the Newcastle area. So, for the first time, I've got a genuine reason to visit America!

Row Brewing Over Britain's Strongest Beer

Health campaigners have called for a review of the alcohol industry after a Scottish brewery launched Britain's strongest beer. The beer, called Tokyo*, has an alcohol content of 18.2%, meaning a single pint would contain 12 units, equivalent to a full bottle of wine. But its creators have sparked fury among alcohol charities by saying it will "help alleviate the country's irresponsible binge drinking culture".

Sarah Matthews from the British Liver Trust said the organisation was appalled by the new drink. "I do not understand the point they are trying to make in terms of allieviating binge drinking," she said. "All we can see is that it will add to the binge drinking culture. They are promoting the high ABV [the alcohol by volume standard] which they should not be allowed to do. It is completely irresponsible and a real worry. It highlights the need for a mandatory code for the alcohol industry to prevent irresponsible drinks promotions such as this."

But James Watt, who founded the independent brewery BrewDog, is dismissive of the concerns. "We want to change the perception towards beer and show a different side to the multinational corporations," he told Sky News Online. "People that criticise us have no understanding of our brand or our customers. It is priced in a way that encourages responsible consumption and marketed to people who understand and enjoy beer. To get the body and flavours we needed the alcohol backbone of the beer and it is a fantastic technical achievement."

The super strength beer is on sale in 330ml bottles via BrewDog and specialist retailers. It was brewed with jasmine and cranberries and fed with glucose every four hours for three weeks. Around 2,000 bottles have been sold to retailers abroad, and only 1,000 remain in the UK.

I used to have a wee taste for Tennent's Super but that's only 9% alcohol and yet was still strong enough to have got the name 'electric soup' on the streets... Something at 18% must be foul really, but I'd be willing to test it to be sure!

i'm really enjoying alcoholic ginger beer over this festive period, had to stock up again yesterday as i'd run out! lovely stuff, not to sweet, nice fiery hit of ginger, and only £1.30 or something for a big bottle

also snakebite has been going down nice, which is just half lager and cider mixed. you can add a dash of blackcurrant and its called diesel

I used to work behind several bars, we'd always beware of those with the snakebite. Nice stuff though, try cider and Guinness. A bitch to pour but the taste is worth the tip to the bar person
