As far as I know, Shepherd's Pie should be minced mutton and onion (because you wouldn't actually want to mince lamb as it's already tender) in gravy with potato on top. But Cottage pie is minced beef with carrots and potato on top.
I make a curried mince version (using one spoonful of patak's bhuna paste in the mince) and that really gives it a unique twist. You need to make sure it's got a fair bit of liquid rather than being firm as then the curry flavour goes into the potatoes too, colouring them great... mmmmm
HP sauce is also a great additive, though not too much. |
And U said My nana should be help up for treason .......I can hear her right now on my roof stomping a round ..saying who is this Faceless ......WHO THE FUCK is he

Your nana would have loved it - and so will you... and then you'll look back to those misguided days of sweetcorn and realise that when it comes to the one meal I can cook to perfection that I know what I'm on about!
I'll be gracious about it though. haha |

this might sound like a stupid question but ... if i did this, would i be able to reheat it the day after and it would be alright? like if i do a chilli, i'll have half one day and maybe freeze the rest or reheat it the next day - could i do that with this? or maybe i should just cut the ingredients and make a smaller one to start with ... but it would be nice if i could just make a big one that'll last a couple of meals |

I know some people don't like leftovers, but I think Shepherd's pie tastes better the next day once all the flavours have had a chance to sit and marinate a bit |

same here - it works great, though reheating in the microwave can make the crust soggy, so watch out for that... |

could you just reheat it in the oven instead of the microwave ( i don't really trust microwaves )
looks like i'll be having this for dinner tonight minus the corn of course! |

Would be lovely heated in the oven, luke. As Face said, the crust will be much nicer. You may want to put a bit of butter on top of the potatoes to keep them from getting too dry, but otherwise, I'm sure it'll be delic! |

i made this saturday, and it was pretty champion for a first attempt i did it like yours aja, but without the corn and i added some parsnips into the mash ( its a habit adding parsnips to mash )
it made loads! luckily there was others here and they enjoyed it as well, otherwise it would have lasted days!
thanks aja i will try face's twist on it one day with the curry paste ... |
