I haven't had the "pleasure" yet. Hell, I didn't move to XP until after X-mas '06. Using it at work helped win me over (especially that I can turn off all the glitz and run it bare bones so it looks like 2000).
vista is one big memory hog. Apart from a good outlook it has nothing so special to offer. But that also comes with a price. You'll need at least 1GB of memory and the OS takes a huge amount of space. One can easily do all the fency stuffs (encoding, video editing, etc) in a Winxp machine. It is on the new(ish) Dell laptop that I bought. I haven't had anywhere near the problems that others have and it does what I need it to, so no complaints yet, except for the approval boxes that pop up all the time.
