Cos I keep changing my Mind .....
my self and Anissas Mum In Law are throwing a baby shower for Anissa next saturday at noon (its at that crazy time cos most of us work in restaurants and have to work later that day ) there will be approx 40 people.....we already have the cake sorted and we dont plan on doing any games.....
Marge (MIL) is doing the philly thing ... Hot roast beef ... 2 different types of Pasta (cold) prolly cheese plates that kind of stuff..... I was going to do tacos and fahitas but i realized that would be a pain ..... to keep warm etc etc ....
I am Deffo going with a Cucumber tom salad .... and a turkey cranberry pecan cold salad stuffed in to a huge loaf (with the bread taken out ) so u can just slice that and eat that....
a big spring mix salad ..... and maybe a chicken and a tuna salad .....I was thinking all that would be easy to scoop on a plate and eat .....and some pumperknickel bread .....
Any other ideas peeps ......Please....... ...... I am running out of time ........
oh and a mango red onion and black bean salsa..... |

Some sort of fruit salad might be nice...We really like blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and kiwi together...maybe some cherries? |

Maybe a nice chef salad for the meat eaters if any? That's always nice. Ziti can be nice too. :-)
Forgot to change names again.....Gee! This is from Pirtybirdy. ;-) |

At the house in Maine (when we had a hoard of peeps there) I made a mayo free coleslaw, it was a big hit with all who ate it (over 20 peeps tried it).
The base is pretty easy to make & I'd be more than willing to share the recipe.
Of course nibbles are a must at such gatherings...
Home made Hummus & pita bread triangles, shrimp / prawns, a cheese plate with assorted crackers...
Various olives always go down well too...
I myself tend to decorate the plates of nibbles with items such as strawb's, grapes, blueberries, melon balls & such...
(those who want fruit eat the decorations & saves on entire fruit plates) |

Aja, I agree that it sounds like you've got it covered already:
Hot Roast Beef
That kick ass turkey cranberry pecan cold salad loaf..please post the recipe when it's all over?
2 different pastas (cold)
Cucumber tomoato salad
Pumpernickle bread
cheese plate
Mango Red onion salsa
cake
That's quite a bit of food already so I would just round it out with a couple of pounds each of chicken salad and tuna salad and ham salad. Seriously, one hot item is enough for a summer lunch.
For a summer luncheon add fruit, store bought and already cut up, it'll be popular because it's the dead of summer and for a group of 40 you know some of them are probably dieting anyway. Buy the stuff already cut up, pineapple, watermelon, strawberry, seedless grapesi, and buy the wooden skewers people use for shishkabab. Skewer the cut up fruit with some cubes of cheddar cheese and people will lurve it. I've heard you can buy champagne flavored jelly belly candy. That would be cute. Or maybe put out a dish of the bride's favorite candy. |

Of course no party which involved anyone with British connections would be complete without cheese and pineapple on sticks. |
