Dawn's dreams of playing happy families with new fiancé Rob are left in tatters. She wakes up shackled to a bed in handcuffs with crazed May threatening to cut the baby from Dawn's womb!
But Dawn manages to knock Rob out cold and fight her way to freedom past May.
Desperate Dawn drives to Walford and is taken to hospital to give birth but May tricks her way onto the ward!
"Dawn is shattered by Rob's betrayal," reveals Kara Tointon, who plays her.
"But she is a real fighter. She is so relieved to get home. Dawn will do anything to keep her baby safe."
As the week opens, Dawn comes to after being overpowered by her captors. She is terrified when May announces she will perform a Caesarean section on her in order to steal the baby.
"Dawn realises that May is totally out of control," adds Kara. "And she is devastated to discover that she and Rob have been conspiring together.
"Dawn really thought Rob wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and the baby. Her world falls apart fast."
Luckily, Dawn struggles free from her handcuffs. And when Rob comes in to check on her, she lashes out and knocks him unconscious.
While he's out cold, mad May tries to stop Dawn escaping and the two women fight furiously.
But Dawn gets the better of her enemy.
"Dawn somehow finds the strength to steal May's car and drives herself back to Walford," explains Kara.
"She collapses into Keith's arms when she finally makes it home."
However, Rob is in hot pursuit and surprises her in the kitchen.
"Dawn is absolutely fuming," says Kara. "She grabs a knife and orders him out. She hates Rob for his betrayal. She has been through enough already and the baby is due any time now."
Intent on getting out of Walford, Dawn decides to go to her mum's to have the baby. Just as she boards the train her waters break and she's rushed to hospital.
At the hospital, a furious Dawn insists that Rob is not allowed in. When he turns up, he is stopped by a hospital security guard as she has the baby.
"It's a girl and Dawn is delighted," smiles Kara. "She never wants to see Rob or May again. Although she knows life will be difficult as a single mum, she has the support of her family."
Yet evil May hasn't given up. And, as Dawn tries to relax with her daughter, the demented doctor is smoothly talking her way onto the ward.
Cruel Stella finds another way to torment Ben by forcing him to play a
game he hates - football.
Even Phil is impressed when Stella convinces his sports-shy son to go to a soccer camp
"But it's all part of Stella's mind games," reveals Sophie Thompson, who plays Phil's twisted fiancée. "She's a monstrous manipulator."
First, Phil finds a letter in Ben's school bag about a footy trip and he's upset that Ben doesn't want to go. Phil admits to Stella that he wishes Ben liked football.
"Stella sees her chance," explains Sophie. "She gives Ben a new pair of football boots. She makes him feel he has to forget his own feelings and play for his dad."
Stella keeps Ben away from school by pretending he's ill and then gives him a hard time on the practice ground.
"But she's not so happy when Ben accidentally smacks the ball into her face," says Sophie. "I have a feeling he will pay for that."
Scared Ben tells Phil he'd like to go to camp after all.
"Stella's mind games have worked again," says Sophie.
and from the Mirror
WHO would have thought there could be a worse place than the Millers’ filthy, germ-infested hovel for Dawn to see out the last days of her pregnancy?
But handcuffed to a double bed in a detached country house with deranged Dr Mad May about to slice open the unfortunate girl must come high on the terror scale.
Instead of Dawn and Randy Rob happily starting a new life with their child, this is an astonishing and unexpected twist to an excellent story.
For Dawn has been tricked by her fiance, and the crazy couple are now holding her hostage until the baby they want as their own is born.
‘I’d rather it died than you ’ave it!’ Dawn hollers at May on Monday as she tries to yank herself free. ‘Just fink – all your plans, all this, an’ you end up with a dead baby.’
In the same way that Corrie recently rewrote their abduction story involving Freddie Peacock because they were rightly sensitive to the dreadful plight of the McCanns in Portugal, so too have Enders hastily changed the outcome of this fraught saga.
But it has lost none of its power and is still classic Enders. And it all began more than nine months ago when banker Rob and barmaid Dawn had a fling with such devastating consequences.
Rob has lost his wife, home, career and dignity. Dawn nearly lost her baby and her life when she fell down the steps recently. And May has simply lost her marbles.
While her original scheme to buy the baby has now been abandoned, the pill-popping doc has a much more sinister plan as turns the kitchen into a makeshift maternity unit.
‘An elective Caesarean is much more your thing,’ May hisses. ‘Very celebrity. But then again, not exactly too posh to push, are you, Dawn?’
She certainly does that when she slips the handcuffs, thumps Rob in the face, knees him in the groin and then smashes a vase over his head as she makes her escape.
With yet another magnificent performance by Amanda Drew as May, Kara Tointon also excels as the confused and desperate Dawn as she rushes back to Walford, only for Rob to chase after her, claiming that he has had his bonkers ex-wife sectioned.
But for all the evil, fear and tension, come Thursday there is also humour as Dawn goes into labour on a crowded tube train. As her waters break, she also loudly passes wind and projectile vomits.
Well, she’s probably done the same on many a drunken night as the ultimate party girl.
There’s also little dignity in crouching down on all fours on a hospital bed. As the contractions become more frequent and she screams in agony, mate Carly bizarrely sings Consider Yourself from Oliver! to encourage her.
‘Oh, Carly,’ Dawn sobs, ‘people keep lookin’ up my twinkle an’ I don’t know who they are. I was sick in my bag and I did a big fart on the tube.’
No, posh she ain’t…
With Rob prevented from going in, delighted Dawn gives birth to a 7lb 2oz baby daughter who she calls Summer.
‘This is as close as we’re ever gunna get,’ Rob tells his ex-missus outside. ‘It’s over.’
Not for May it isn’t…
ALSO:
Should there be any plans to replace the England football coach Steve McClaren, then Cruella Stella could be an ideal candidate – especially if the lads need frightening into action. No sooner has Milky Bore Kid Ben refused to go to football camp than she has bought him a pair of boots and a real leather ball and taken him for a practise in the local park on Tuesday. Ben is clearly a bit of a Becks as he kicks the ball hard into Stella’s ugly mug. Oops. That could be an own goal, sonny. |

Dawn names the baby Summer, don't ask me why but it sounds like a name she would pick. Nothing against the name, but it fits for sure. |

Wow - after watching Monday's ep last night, I'm so looking forward to Tuesday's ep today (just downloading it now!). Amanda Drew certainly knows how to bring out the evil side in her acting. And Kara Tointon was pretty fantastic too.
Rob is a bit of a wimp really, isn't he? He can't seem to see how mad his wife really is. And how on earth could he forgive her for wrecking his career?
What do you think of a match between Dawn & Garry? Remember, he thought he had a child with Laura and was over the moon. And he does seem quite tender in his feelings toward Dawn. She's a bit like Garry's mum really, isn't she? Ha ha ha. |

I like it, and I guess she needs some blue skies and sunshine right now. |

I personally think in the long run she's going to be a terrible mother. Dawn is just very selfish and I have a feeling she'll turn out more like her dad then her mother. That said, I have enjoyed the last few shows with her and I do like the actress. |
